Frequently Asked Questions

• - What is the difference between the Lite and Pro version?


The Pro version will offer some additional features and contains no advertising. The following features are at the moment available in the Pro version:

AIVC-Manager: Unlimited commands. In the Lite-Version you can define not more than 10 commands.

Wake up: Let AIVC listen in the background to perform actions or retrieve information. Perform actions completely through without taking your device in the hand.

Calendar: Manage your schedule easily by voice.

Notes: Take a note by voice.

Places: Get places information. Where is the next ... ?

TV-Receiver: Control your Enigma2-Receiver by voice.

Play Music / Videos: Say the title of a music or video witch is located on your storage device and it plays automatically.

Dialog-Mode: Have a conversation without press the button again.

• - The button does not respond. What can I do?


Make sure that you have ...

1) ... installed the latest version of Google Search.

2) ... installed the latest version of the AIVC.

3) ... No other apps block the speech recognition in background.

4) ... selected Google voice recognition by default in the menu.
Phone Menu => Settings => Language & input => Speech Recognition

5) ... an existing Internet connection when you don't have installed a offline speech recognition.

• - How do I use the function Wake up / Listen in background


With this function you have the opportunity to wake up AIVC from the background.
Wake up your device with your voice.
Activate this setting in the AIVC-menu => Settings => Record Settings => Wake up.
Once the settings menu is exited AIVC will listen in the background. The title bar will display the AIVC icon. While this icon is displayed, AIVC is listening to you in the background.

To wake up the app, you must say "Hey (assistant name)".
So say: "Hey Alice" with an english pronunciation.

You can change the assistant name in the
AIVC-menu => Settings => Personal Settings.
Please note that the name chosen affects the wakeup-mode.
Not every name is supported by the acoustic model used in the wakeup-mode.

Important:
The acoustic model used in the wakeup-mode was created with english speech data.
That's why it is important that the hotword is pronounced in good english.

It still doesn't work:
To check whether the wakeup mode is really running or not, start a recording with the voice recorder application while the wakeup mode is running.

If this is possible, the wakeup mode is NOT active (even if displayed).
In this case simply restart the wakeup function via ControlPanel-Widget.

If the recording fails since the microphone is occupied, the function is active.
In this case the reason is the pronunciation of the hotword.

• - How can I change the voice?


You can choose between a female and a male voice in AIVC-menu. In addition, you can also install and use own voices in AIVC. Additional voices can be found in the market for example SVOX or Ivona. To use these voices in AIVC, you must install the voice and proceed as follows:

Device-menu => Settings => Language and input => Text-to-speech output under Preferred TTS engine select the newly installed voice.

And then in the AIVC-menu => Settings => Personal Settings => Select voice => Select the System-Voice.

• - Why I can't send messages with WhatsApp?


It is not possible because WhatsApp does not allow third party apps to send messages via WhatsApp.

• - Which command understands AIVC?


There is no specific list of commands. AIVC knows many things, no matter how you say it. AIVC filters keywords from the spoken and tries to perform the desired action. An overview of the functions and sample commands, see the Help in the AIVC-menu.

• - Why does AIVC use many permissions?


Here is a list of permissions that you must Agree to use AIVC. Why do we need which permission can you found here:

Send SMS messages

With AIVC you have the possibility to send SMS by voice. This right is needed to send the SMS.

Directly call phone numbers

It is possible to call contacts with AIVC by voice. This right is required to call the desired contact.

Change your audio settings

You can put your device with AIVC to silent mode or vibrate mode.

Take pictures

To turn on the light, we must have permission to access the camera.

Record audio

That what are you talking is received as an audio file and then converted to a text file for further processing.

Fine (GPS) location

The permission to locate the exact GPS location, for example, when the weather query needs. "How's the weather?" To answer this question, we need the current location, to display the weather for that location.

Read SMS or MMS

This permission is needed to read incoming messages.

Full Internet access

To use AIVC you need a permanent Internet connection. The reason for this is that the language processing must take place on servers. A processing directly on the device is not possible because of the low processor speed and low memory.

Create Bluetooth connections

Is required to connect with the Bluetooth-Headset.

Read contact data

The read permission is required to find the contact that you want to call, write text messages or email.

Read phone state and identity

Is required to stop AIVC when incoming calls arrive.

Modify/delete SD card contents

Is required as a temporary storage place when you show you pictures/videos.

Bluetooth management

Is required to control AIVC with a Bluetooth Headset.

Control flashlight

Is required to turn on / off the light.

View network state

Is required to verify whether an existing Internet connection is available.

Set alarm

To create an alarm.

Read calendar data

To create and view appointments.

• - Why do not all dates are displayed?


The problem can occur if the app is on the SD card. If that's the case, the only solution is the app again to hang up the internal memory.

• - How do I get the app on my new phone?


Please enter the access data in Google Play Store which you have purchased the app. Search for AIVC and download them for free. If you get a message to buy the app again, you must contact the Google Play Store Support.

• - Certain functions do not work for me?


Wait and see! Currently all functions are not compatible with all devices, but we try to change this. Please feel free to tell us about it.

• - I have problem to set the alarm?


The device of you has his own alarm clock app, and this unfortunately doesn't hold to the Android standards. Alternatively, you can install Alarm Clock Plus. With this app, the problem will be solved.

• - The widget can be placed no longer?


For many devices, it is not possible to set a widget when the app is on the SD card. If that's the case, the only solution is the app again to hang up the internal memory.

• - I get a licensing error?


If you get a license error by the market clear the cache of the Google Play Store app.

• - The navigation with Navigon not work for me?


The navigation with Navigon only works with Navigon MobileNavigator not with Navigon Select. Reason for this is, that Navigon Select not have the option provides an interface to start the program.

• - Why can't I buy/update the Pro-Version?


Unfortunately the Pro-Version was removed from PlayStore on October 19th 2017 by Google.
As a reason, we were notified of a policy violation.

To the question what exactly has been violated, wheather we can fix that with an update and why only the Pro-Version is affected we didn't get any reply from Google till now.

As we don't know any details about what policy has been violated we point out that the usage of the app is at your own risk.
